Portuguese is half of my family’s origins but I think it’s just Spanish on steroids

My grandfather spoke Portuguese and his friend spoke Spanish, they did not know each other’s language at all but they were able to communicate pretty well

I heard someone said “Gracias” to someone in Lisbon and they just smiled, but you could see the rage in his eyes
