This is hilarious. The media landscape is more fragmented now than it’s ever been (and it’s only becoming more so). Using the internet, you can rapidly immerse yourself in any kind of alternative reality and conspiracy theory you want. Or you can seek out international perspectives on the news you couldn’t have ever found before.
If y’all wanna go back to the 1950s when everything was supposedly more socially harmonious (Jim Crow oppression of blacks, rampant sexism against women, total non-recognition of gays notwithstanding), keep in mind that this was a time when everyone got their news from the same three MSM channels.
And those channels were analogous to NBC, CBS, ABC. “Fox News” wasn’t an option (founded in 1996) and there was no equivalent to it.
If you wanted to be a John Bircher-type conspiracist, you really had to go out of your way.
