Although most of the anti-plastic PR is aimed at the US, we recycle and mitigate its impact more than any other country. China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam are dumping more plastic into oceans than the rest of the world combined. My vote is always for the scientist over the activist.

Unfortunately, some activists obstruct acts that would mitigate climate damage. The think that doing good and producing improvements would lessen the pressure to take extreme action. The President of Greenpeace is opposed to converting coal fired electric plants to Natural Gas. Because of improved "fracking," we can get to Natural Gas in larger quantities than ever. We could convert all coal fired plants everywhere and probably save money in the long run. The environment would get less smoke pollution and much less carbon residue. I have beat this drum for years.

I agree that "Climate Change" is real and a threat to every facet of our lives. But, I have never been totally "lock-step" with any political movement. Given the choice of accepting the assessment of real scientists or simply ignoring the problem, I choose the former. I agree with the "Climate Change Nazis," that we must end coal use completely and cut our use of petroleum products substantially. I part ways with them on timelines and methods.

Had we cut coal completely when Natural Gas became a viable option, Global Warming would be slowed. Solar is a great option. But, until we end China's monopoly on Rare Earth products, it is not a viable widespread option. The US has 250-million cars running on internal combustion engines. We replace our cars at a rate of 16,000 a year. Even if electric cars were easily affordable and everyone bought in, conversion would take at least two to three decades. What happens if large numbers of people don't make the switch here and worldwide? I like the CCNs aspirations. I just prefer a bit more realism in solutions to problems.

I was listening to some talking heads the other day and the talking head who was speaking for you and all the other CCN’s said that the fact that China, Russia, India, & other Third-World disasters aren’t held to any of the CCN’s dictates and “treaties” is no problem. She went on to say that the air and climate in the US will be be cleaner than those countries. As if there is no wind…the moron actually believes that the air and climate above a land mass is constant and follows said land mass in its rotation around the Earth’s axis and around the Sun.
