"Homo-" is the prefix meaning "same," and "-phobic" is the suffix meaning "fear of" or "aversion to." The phrase "homosexuality" refers to two persons of the same gender/sex involving themselves in an intimate relationship with each other. The term "homophobia" is often conceived as the name for people who have fears of or aversions to homosexual individuals. However, it is a misconceived and misused word.
While someone may have an aversion to homosexuality, that doesn't mean that someone is afraid of or averted to all people who fall under that category. Therefore, it would be unfair to label someone as homophobic merely because he disagrees with the notion of homosexuality. After all, someone may strongly disagree with what someone else says, but that doesn't mean there can't be a civility and peace between those people.
Every member in our society has different cultural backgrounds, moral upbringings, and, overall, different ways of living. Everyone is distinguished, but as human beings, we were created equal, and will remain equal well after time's end.
And so, while I disagree with the ideals of the LGBTQ community, it does not change the fact that everyone should treat each other with absolute respect, love, and dignity. It is a standard that I have been improving on slowly with every day. We don't have to agree with each other on everything, but we don't have to always fight on who's right, either. We just have to talk and listen. God bless you, Audrey, and good day to you. 🎩👌🏻
