I DMed once, and I had a town the party went to. It wasn't a town, it was about 20 building sized mimics and 50 doppelgangers. The reasoning is because the party decided to be murderhobos that day.
wait hear me out. you tame a mimic(in that town). now theoreticy if you tell the mimics the scimatics of a m1 abrams it can morfe its self in to an m1 abrams you have your self an anti everything wepon.
okay, but- would your character know what an m1 abrams tank is and thus be able to relay it to the mimic? would they even have the technological know-how to draw up the schematics of the closest thing to a tank in the setting?
okay, perhaps you're an artificer crazy enough to dream up something like that. can a mimic- let me rephrase that, will a DM really let you grow a giant tank army by taming every mimic you come across and trivialize every direct combat encounter?
its hard to explain why its funny but lets just say harcon finbar brings in up a lot. we/me recently used it + a thaumaturgy to make it sound like an army was comeing to fight this enemy i combined my drake (i have a drake warden ability to make it seem like a massive army was comeing to attack the group of like 5 or 6 bandits (MY GROUP lost because the bandits boss came out and im the tank we have a shape shifter who just joined but the rest of the party is a cleric and a wisard A ELF ONE WHO IS POSESED( HE HAS A LITERAL Brick of CHEASE ON A ROPE THE IS UNBREAKABLE and if you give it hp you can give it to part members later on he is the dms little brother and they had spent all night working o n this chericter he is my age this is some funny stuff).

at least in my opinion has ptsd from almost dieing to a bug bear our fist seacion ad my dm recently makeing my childhood dragon frend go away (fair resonings but i will us it in the most funnyest ways poisible. our most recent seacion where we were talking about zombies harcon had a break down in a jail cell and was asking our temperary captor (he became our ally) if anyone had every left him or broke his heart he was just sobing and sobing.(preaty shure harkon is a veitnam vet with all his ptsd and deppretion).
