While the Russian military has been proven to be second rate, don't pretend that you don't know I was talking about Ukraine as the smaller country. I was among the majority that thought Ukraine did not stad a chance of resisting the Russian invasion last year. The 13-months since then have verified all of the criticisms of their uninspiring and lackluster leadership that I read about in Hedrick Smith's "The Russians," almost 50-years ago. The Russian Communist system produced a cadre of "leaders," who can't lead by rewarding cronyism instead of accomplishments. It is evident in their failure to crush Ukranian resistance, as demonstrated by their loss of massive numbers of soldiers, significant naval losses, and inability to totally dominate the skies.
