"The love of money", not just money. But your question still stands. One of the Ten Commandments is "thou shalt not covet that which is thy neighbor's" which also applies to the church leadership wanting to take your money to put gold plating on the doorknobs.

That's what I'm sayin'. Church should be a free service with money provided by the government in case something breaks.

An offering is done with joy, it's ur choice, but the bible also teaches us to be based so if you plan on offering to God u have to make sure you understand what exactly an offering is.
