The time for triangulation has passed. Triangulation delivered several decades of Democratic politics that, against the Party’s roots as a working-class party, effectively ratified Reaganism. Regardless of who was in charge, working class interests kept being sold down the river. This fostered a deep cynicism in much of the country which produced MAGA. We are reaping the harvest of that now. Blue-collar whites have abandoned the Democratic Party in droves because they view Republicans as more aligned culturally with them, while the Democrats “won’t do jack diddly for me” economically.
