I remember making a huge paragraph about that, but I'm just gonna sum this :

- That's unfair for ppl who puts effort into making memes
- That'd had a success for a while, and pushed new ppl to copy it.
- With the copying process, Imgflip trend to have less actual funny memes.
- Less funny memes = bad reputation for Imgflip
- That creates alot of hate towards the meme, and trust me, no one deserves that much hate, especially new ppl who don't know what they're going...
- Most popular upvote begging memes are on popular opinions, so there's even more hate and arguing.
- It's just not original. Blanks template with just text and cringey associations of images. Plus it's not fun.

The reason we hate upvote beggars is because one: It's annoying to see people begging for upvotes instead of memes. And 2: Some streams have it against the rules.

And why it's annoying?

Because we'd rather see memes than people wanting attention. Like, it's not that hard to get upvotes if you know how to make good memes.

To answer this question, I will give you a question of my own.
Which do you think got more upvotes? My well thought out, original meme about how googling Sodium Bromine oxide is abbreviated to NaBrO and that google shall keep its secrets, OR some random ass user posting “1 upvote=10 pushups.”

Imgflip isn’t for upvote begging, all they want is popularity and so when you just say “upvote this meme right now” there is literally nothing even mildly humorous about it, and if you haven’t forgotten, imgflip is for memes, not kids begging for popularity. Upvotes are for memes that you like, not for random people with no meme who want to get to the front page.

TLDR: upvotes are for funny memes, not kids begging for popularity

Because upvote begging memes are not creative, unoriginal, unfunny, and unfair to users who actually spend time and effort on their memes, only to have them thrown into the infinite abyss that is memes that aren’t in the “new” or “hot” catagories.
