You see, this is why breath of the wild was such a huge success, it had a huge map, and there was stuff to do in it

There were shrines, quests, and puzzles everywhere, sure the enemies get a little repetitive since it's mainly stronger versions of what you've already seen but STILL there was always something new to find or see or do

And then there's the glitches, while unintentional, can make the game EVEN MORE fun

And then there's sonic frontiers, while yes it has huge maps it doesn't have much to do in them

Sure there's the equivalent of shrines (cyber portals) but they're just regular sonic levels, stuff we've already seen a million times. And sure you could argue that there is SOME stuff in the open world like the parkour things that give you a way to obtain memory tokens, but that's all they do. There's almost no use to them. However I won't say frontiers is a bad game because of it.

That's why (in my opinion) botw is a masterpiece, and frontiers is... Ok at best.

very true, but one thing that we need to make clear is that Frontiers is a huge step in the right direction for Sonic Team. There are just a few things holding it back from BOTW level perfection, like the things you mentioned, and how unnatural the game elements in the environment look (grinding rails go brrrr), but devs behind Frontiers are hearing our concerns and seem to be preparing to fix it in DLC and a likely sequel. I won't get my hopes too high, but who knows? Maybe we'll get that ideal Sonic game soon.

yeah. I feel like there are too many people who either jump to praise it or ridicule it with no in-between. There are a lot of thing Frontiers got right, and a few important things it got wrong. We need to make sure Sonic team knows which is which, that way they don't do what they did after sonic 06 and abandon every concept that game brought, which shouldn't have been done. (I prefer the story of sonic 06 to the stories of more recent sonic games (Aside from Frontiers, haven't finished it just yet) because, while it has some obviously low lows, it at least carried itself as sincere. The characters conveyed the stakes well and didn't behave as if this was some sort of 9 to 5 or a fun game. Plus, the dynamic between Team Dark was better in Sonic 06 than anywhere else, in my opinion.
