A few months ago the Russians blamed the UK. In spite of "small amounts of possible explosives" found at the site, the greatest likelihood is shoddy Russian workmanship. In 2019 Russia experienced 17,000 pipeline leaks. They have a leak every half an hour of every day. By contrast, the US, with the most energy pipelines in the world, had a few hundred in the same year. Russian pipeline failures are so widespread and well known in that country that the Feminist Social Protest Group "Pussy Riot," produced a song and a music video about the subject.
