The KKK traded in their white hoods and robes for blue ties and suits. They realized they could be more effective if they hid behind the Democratic Party, act like they care about the blue collar worker, then later "oppressed minorities" that they actually hate, and dressed up their racist policies as "social justice"
Communists traded in their berets for red ties and suits. They realized it would be safer for them to push their agenda by pretending to be well dressed conservatives and blame all the "Progressive" rhetoric on the opposition party. You may know them as "neo-cons", most are in the Republican Party and some are in the Democratic Party.
Both parties are owned and controlled by oil companies, weapons manufacturers, the banks, and other large corporations who couldn't care less about the well-being of American citizens, or anyone for that matter. Money took over between The Organic Act of 1871, and the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913.
Nowadays, a few big companies own every single major business, so if you get upset because one company supports the GOP and you boycott them and switch over to the competition, which is also owned by the same parent companies, it's a win-win for the 1% since they're still getting your hard earned scraps.
