Not this is just the amateur cymbal players when you try to teach them a cadence

But I'm sure the more they do it the better they get.

For the most part, but not my drumline apparently, I've tried and a certain four players in our ten person cymbal line just can't do it, and I've tried teaching them and I'm the best cymbal player in our drumline and wrote a really difficult drumbeat that only I can play

Like I said just give them time especially if they are new.

May I ask how long it took you to get to point you are at now in the marching band? And remember you can only get better. :)

Almost two years
But I was at this level by like five months, I was an either grader in the highschool marching band and was second best on drumline
I honestly blame our percussion director and front ensemble tech, since they did a really horrible job of formatting band camp, since they did everything on mallets and literally two hours on cymbals

Congratulations then on being the second best on drumline. May I inquire if you played before then?
And you just may be right with the formatting of your instructors putting the cymbals at a disadvantage.

Nope, that was my first time
I'm actually a pianist and bassoonist and had no percussion experience coming into marching band

Yes, but because you play other instruments you may have an advantage over people who are just starting to play, maybe?

Maybe, but everything was brand new to me
