99% Skill 1% Luck

I once hit a patch of ice on the road going downhill, spun out of control. I was half a second from my driver's side door hitting a telephone pole or from going head first into a 2ft thick concrete wall, depending on how far I'd slide... but my car got stuck on a section of high curb a half-second from hitting either. I walked away with only a few scratches under the doors. I call it divine intervention, but others called it luck. There were no skills involved though.

Given that you were stopped by a high curb you weren't going that fast. because if you were you would have flipped over easly.

Knowledge is a skill, you knew going fast on ice would likely cause problems. In life you will come into contact with issues such as sliding uncontrollably on ice, however with the forethought of going slow and not panicking when issues occur your likely hood of receiving luck increases infinitely.

And by the sounds of it even if you had hit that lamppost or wall you would have had minor damage at best. Your knowledge and skill's at driving safely saved your life.
