I built a top-tier gaming computer with a 1,000W power supply.
Everything in that computer will require power, so your total available power would be "Y"
Unfortunately you must allow around 300W of safe room, reducing "Y" to 700
My processor (CPU) requires 95W
My graphics processor (GPU) requires 360W
My multiple storage drives require a total of 50W
My memory requires 46W
My motherboard requres 70W
Total power so far is 621W
I had to decide between air or liquid cooling, or between multiple fans or two radiator systems.
I chose fans, which meant a 10W CPU cooler, bringing the total power to 631.
The rest of the fans used 5W each. I would need a lot, but how many could I use?
700 = 5x + 631
x = 13.8, so I can use just shy of 14 fans.
My case could fit 9 fans, so I have enough power for what I need, leaving me with 24W.
I'm not an engineer, I had a "C" average in school. I just wanted to play games and make them look cool.
