Captain Phasma could've been a cool Boba Fett/Buzz Lightyear of the First Order. Especially if she was actually that little blonde girl from the Ewoks movie who was raised by Ewoks-so she would know how to fight with a spear from the get go, by one of the Empire's worst enemies, ironically.
Then when her Ewok tribe got displaced due to so many space pirate attacks, she wound up on a planet full of tribal conflict that could only be described as Jurassic Park and Game of Thrones.
This could explain how she could be so efficient as a melee fighter.
If they combined Legends with Canon, then maybe she would lead basic training on worlds that had been terraformed by the Vong and learn to reverse engineer their biotech, incorporating and supplementing first Order Tech with theirs.
