I did something similar with bardota where he has limited potential to grow however he can only gain some of it during trainings and the rest through determination and near death experiences
Hence why he was weak as f**k when i first introduced him and now he just got stronger than solar knight

He's stronger until Solar knight challenges Bardota in full Auric testla armor

He still hasnt managed to control that power he used in their first fight
