We should do something. How about we lock up all the criminal gang members and throw the keys away?

Ironically not a single mass shooting event has taken place from criminal gang members. Not saying they aren ot responsible for alot of gun deaths so go ahead. But locking up all the criminal gangs will not make a dent in mass shootings.

I never said there was not gang violence. I said that none of the gang violence qualified as a mass shooting event as it didn't kill 4 or more people killed/injured.

That being said. If we jailed all gang members in this scenario.. we would still have 37 out of 39 mass shootings still taking place..

The term “mass shooting” has been so widely misused over the years that it no longer has any real meaning behind it

For the purpose of the stats above. Any shooting that takes place in public and has more than 4 victims qualifies as a mass shooting.

Why 4? Why not 2 or 5 or 8? It’s a random number picked by people that are trying to scare you.

You are incorrect. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had set the guidelines in the 1980s that a mass murder event is any event the injures or kills 4 or more people. When mass shootings started to happen more often that guideline implemented by the FBI for mass murders was applied to Mass Shootings. It was never random, this has been defined for the last 40+ years.

But the FBI themselves did not set the rule for Mass Shootings as being 4 or more. It was the Congressional Research Service (CRS) that used the FBI mass murder guidelines and applied it to mass shootings and set the guideline as being 4 or more. This was done in July of 2015 by the Congress of the United States.
