He has a deadbeat dad who gets arrested almost immediately after the game starts, Hinawa, Lucas's mother sacrificed herself to save him and his brother Claus, who later steals a knife to confront the monster that killed Hinawa, meaning Lucas's dog is the only family he has left. Claus got brainwashed later down the road and Lucas is forced to fight him, but Lucas refuses to hit Claus. When Hinawa makes contact with the brothers from beyond the grave, Claus realises what he's done and commits suicide in front of Lucas. After the fight, Lucas possibly ends the world by accident after breaking the seal on a force influenced by the spirit of the person who released it.
This all happened while Lucas was around 13 years old btw.
