I can't really think of a word in the English language that annoys me more. I just hate the sound of the word, an I don't know why. Rhyming words don't trigger the same reaction with me.

Although, my hate of "maw" does spill over into a few other words. Most notable, "mauve," the color. Mauve is a perfectly fine color, although it's name sounds stupid IMHO.

And my hate for the ladyfinger cactus comes from my kactosophobia (fear of cacti) and it just looks creepy to me as well.

A very creepy-looking cactus in my opinion. Especially when it grows to be long. Gives me the heebie jeebies.
