I support nearly everything the Anti-Defamation League stands for, but I have heard them claim that criticism of the nation of Israel is antisemitism, which I don't agree with

"ADL believes that one can advocate for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination while also respecting the Jewish right to self-determination."

"certain forms of anti-Israel rhetoric and activism delegitimize Israel and its existence, and are antisemitic when they vilify and negate Zionism – the movement for Jewish self-determination and statehood"

Antisemitism and anti-Zionism usually go hand-in-hand, but it's possible for someone to say that there are questions about the origin of the nation of Israel (regarding the people who were already living on that land) without hating the Jewish people

I guess it depends on how one defines Zionism. My conception is that Israel is the Hebrew word for Palestine and Palestine is the Arabic word for Israel, though I know both peoples would object to that. Language often fails to distinguish between a people, their government, and the land they live on, and the three things are related. And historical crimes are essentially impossible to correct, seeing as how the original perpetrators and victims are dead, while the spoils and wounds have grown while being passed down to future generations. Anthropological evidence shows that the Old Testament accounts are completely wrong, there were no "Canaanites" and the Jews were the first inhabitants of the land, but that was 5 thousand years ago at least.

I'm almost positive the Hebrews weren't the first inhabitants of that land

From what I've read no artifacts of any previous inhabitants have ever been found.

Hmmm... 🤔

On the one hand it gives the Jews a indigenous peoples argument, on the other hand it invalidates the Torah as history.

That's my opinion, anyway

It would help a great deal if the Israeli government treated Palestinian citizens fairly.
