Unbased. Lower the voting age to 16.
The rationale behind the 26th Amendment (a Vietnam War-era Amendment) is that if you’re old enough to be drafted and sent to die in a faraway foreign land, then you’re old enough to have a political say about your country’s future as well.
I see no way to assail that logic.
But why stop there?
At age 16 you are: old enough to drive, old enough to take a job (and therefore, be affected by employment-related laws), old enough to consent to sex in some states (and therefore, old enough to be affected by reproductive-related laws, which has taken on much greater importance in a post-Roe era).
Old enough to vote. Change my mind.
