What's the point of stopping a maniacal dictator if you're going to hand half of Europe to another bloodthirsty dictator?
We should have done Operation Unthinkable and expelled the Soviets while we had the chance.

Patton knew that we should have destroyed the Soviets first before getting round to tearing Hitler's forces a new asshole and that's why they assassinated him. It would have saved the world a century of suffering under communist tyranny and made sure Stalin's gulags and the potential nuclear war never happened.

Absolutely. So much suffering and death could have been avoided. Communism these days is increasingly permitted as a legitimate ideology when it ought to be discredited as the deadliest ideology in human history.

I kind of wonder if we should've just let the Soviets and Nazis duke it out on their own and fought the winner

Britain was never really in it to save Poland, they just wanted to keep mainland Europe divided to maintain their balance of power. A strong Germany was not in their best interest. Look how that ended up though...
Poland really got screwed over by the allies, even aside from the communist takeover. For instance, operation market garden's failure was originally blamed on the polish troops for failing to do something or another, which just wasn't true.
