I don't want the battle system to just be you attack, enemy attacks, you heal etc cetera. I want it to involve dodging and projectiles, so what about a reaction time system? you have to press certain keys to dodge attacks at the right time (if you've ever played undertale, basically green soul mechanics) and attacks will vary, so fast attacks will do less damage and slow attacks will do more damage. This seems to be the most fast paced battle system possible for a text adventure, and will hopefully work. As for the rooms and characters, they can all be shown in ASCII art (making art with typing.)
