Pros:

-correct spelling

-fix broken links (assuming you still type the things manually)

Cons:

-editing comments to avoid punishment

-censorship (if mods are able to edit the comments of others)

-trolling others by editing comments to make no sense and/or offend others

(Though the cons can be fixed if comment edits have edit history)

If mods/owners of a stream are aloud to edit comments, do you know how much chaos that would cause?
I'd say no against that idea all together
