In my experience I have monitored my moderators and generally everybody does a great job. When there's a problem I suggest changes. If somebody is clearly trolling by bad modding they get banned. I don't see how a small point reward would do much more than encourage people to dive in and handle a backlog when they might otherwise skip it.
