The Phrygian (Turkish) God Attis
was born December 25th to a virgin mother, sacrificed to save mankind at the end of March, was killed beneath
a conifer tree, remaining for 3 days
& nights in his tomb before resurrection. His priests - called "Tree Bearers" - would go to a sacred conifer grove to select a tree which will be brought indoors to honor him.
