"Trump's Middle East Peace": The MAGA trope that just won't die

"Trump's Middle East Peace": The MAGA trope that just won't die | How do you define "Middle East peace" when: (1) The Syrian and Libyan Civil Wars both raged throughout his term without abatement; (2) Trump made no secret of his support for the Israeli far-right, and oversaw the prospects for an equitable Israel-Palestine peace deal dwindle to virtually nil; (3) Trump unilaterally jettisoned the JCPOA deal and personally ordered an assassination of a top Iranian general, ultimately provoking a retaliatory missile strike by Iran on an American base in Iraq that caused significant head injuries to over 100 American servicemen;; Hol' Up; (4) Trump greenlit Saudi Arabia's terrible, borderline genocidal war in Yemen, and continued to coddle the Saudis even after the Jamal Khashoggi murder; (5) Trump watered down internal oversight and intensified the pace of American drone warfare in multiple theaters overseas, and; (6) Trump maintained a troop presence in Afghanistan throughout his term, negotiating a withdrawal with the Taliban only on his own politically convenient timeline: i.e. no political pain until *after* the 2020 elections, when a troop withdrawal would either fall irrelevantly during his own term-limited second term, or saddle his Presidential successor with any withdrawal chaos. | image tagged in change my mind, blank white template, yemen war children bombed, yemeni famine, middle east, trump is a moron | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Let's be realistic here. It would be folly to expect that Trump (Trump! of all people!) could have single-handedly imposed peace upon a region that hasn't known peace since... *checks history*... well, ever?

So I'm left wondering what yardstick MAGA people could possibly be using to assert the claim that Trump achieved "peace in the Middle East."

If we're judging Trump by the dismal yardstick of the *last* President the Republican Party gave us, George W. Bush - who actively tossed several packs of lit matches into the Middle East powder-keg - then yes, Trump comes out ahead of him.

"No new wars." Indeed, although the likely unconstitutional U.S. assassination of Iranian Gen. Soleimani (tantamount to an act of war without a shred of Congressional approval) brought us uncomfortably close to one.

We should also note: Is the Middle East a magically great place under Biden? Was it under Obama? No and no. We should be quite sober at this point about America's ability to effect positive change in this region, regardless of who's President.

But the claim that Trump achieved peace in the Middle East is simply untrue in too many ways to count, though my meme above hits 6 of the lowlights.
