For me the deaths that hit the hardest were glen and Carl

Glen was pretty rough.

There's worse scenes than this one

That's subjective. This hits differently for everyone. Some of us, this was really hard to watch... Moreso than others.

Meeting Negan for the first time is a hair's breadth tie. Like, both are bad. Negan is bad like, hopelessness consuming you, the closest I've ever felt to the characters where I shared the "I'm going to die." feeling. This one... this little girl... You put yourself in the woman's shoes (I forget her name) and you have to kill this little girl who has been so traumatized by the world, that she's now suffering acuste dissociation disorder and has lost all connection with reality. She's as much a danger to you as she is herself. You don't want her to die and come back a zombie, so you have to do it yourself. Because no one else can. Before you pull the trigger, you gotta lie to her to look at the flowers. Her disconnect is so strong that she doesn't realize what you're doing, and while she is so damaged, you know that this is the best level of innocence her mind could manage to protect itself. She's still in there, just walled in. She's not gone... Just needs serious therapy. But that's gone now. And the only therapy is a bullet to the head by your unwilling hand who took her in like a daughter.

Strange, I was thinking about Negan just minutes ago.

Yeah, Negan's intro was a real twisting knot in the gut of dread, that cold-in-the-bones fog accentuating, framing it all too well. It was the cold pit of death breathing down the neck, uncomfortably grim. Closest to panic attack inducing I can recall laid to film, other than a wide selection of Kate Winslet films, especially early on. There's movies of hers I can't watch again because of that, as good as she is.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was just phenomenal. The way he kept his cool, so calm and collected. This was a display of having complete control over the situation.. Confidence is always the psychological factor in determining dominance. And again, I can't say it enough... But he was really good at drawing it out just enough.

My favorite bit was when he said something to the effect of "You just sucked my c*** and thanked me for it." Jeffrey Morgan has this smirk that's so gentle in appearance, but it's also like this snake/shark hybrid that's alluring just enough to hide how dangerous he really is.

I think they did him a disservice as a character by making him a protagonist. It wasn't a bad telling, but it certainly took away from what he represented as a symbol. Humanity is always a fun narrative choice, and I always endorse duality like that. It just didn't feel like it fit here.

When Herschel got killed, I remember kind of expecting it, but being upset just the same. And in case I didn't mention it before, when the blonde's daughter who they'd been searching for was a zombie and they had to put her down.

There were times when there was good writers and times with bad writers.

Was terminus with the governor? Or was that the cannibal city?

Terminus was also like that, tho a close 2nd.

Well it was sad, and too soon. They could have done a lot more with that character, even tho he was doomed to go like this eventually,,,
