Even before COVID-19 was around, people still had to get their shots when going overseas, especially when going to a third world country in general.

And I've worked in places long before covid that required me to get a flu shot, nobody whined about the ethics of it - the ethics of it was if you want to work with vulnerable people without killing them, you got the shot, and if you didn't it's because you don't. That was all there was to it.
