This deserves some backstory. It's from an episode of the Twilight Zone called Printer's Devil (a play on the term for a printer's apprentice) in which Burgess Meredith (the devil) offers to save a man's failing newspaper in exchange for his soul.
I didn't catch until just now that the reference to a fiddle is a nod to the trope of satan luring people to hell with music.
