Just reading that, I take it to mean, "Don't lead off a conversation with a stranger by forcing them to address you in a certain way and then automatically classifying them in some sort of social caste if they don't comply."

This doesn't mean you can't call someone out for being a disrespectful jerk. I personally find this to be no different in substance than if someone tries to force you to call them 'sir' or if they address you by your first name even after you've asked to be addressed with a prefix and then your last name (to cite some arbitrary examples).

Taking issue with identity in today's world is one thing. But there's a way to do it respectfully and a way to NOT do it respectfully. That's a two-way street. Maybe I'm being overly generous in my interpretation of Musk here?

Yep. You are given Elmo too much credit. 😉 He simply takes any subject that's popular with 'the left' and states he's in favour of the opposite, thinking that will put him in the same court as the popular kids in the playground. While it only makes him look like what he is: a nerd that desperately wants to be seen as a bully. He still doesn't realize that a lot of money can buy you a new face, a couple of companies and politicians and a large social media platform but even that can't make people to like and respect you. I really do feel sorry for him.

What was your opinion of Musk before he began his Twitter Aquisition?

Fair question: I saw him as a spoiled nerd who had some great ideas and was a bit of a fan, really. Being somewhat of a misunderstood nerd myself. Just not spoiled. And you?

I think he was and remains a workaholic who has plenty of ideas, or recognizes a good idea when he sees it, and wants to make them reality. Some of them, like PayPal, Tesla, and SpaceX, have transformed the world and continue to do so. It's made him a billionaire and very eccentric. Maybe for better, maybe for worse. He certainly has a philosophy that's tough to pin down, though I know that some of it spooks me.

I'm giving him plenty of time to see how his Twitter vision plays out before I judge it.

Let's hope he will soon realise he can't do everything on his own and hires the needed help. Or simply leave some stuff to others. A bit like Richard Branson with his philosophy: 'Why do or learn something when you can easily pay someone decent wages for doing it better than you ever could yourself?'

That may be what happens. Seems like he's looking for an exit.

Yep. Looks like the Dutch saying applies: 'He took on too much hay on his pitchfork.'
