They used to be, yeah! Then Elon Musk came along and now your stock value can tank because Musk let a fake account announce that you're giving away your products for free.

So advertisers are no longer interested in number of people…
They were never interested in advertising to a large number of people if it f**ked with their corporate image and if the advertising channel was unstable.
Marketing 101: there are some markets that just aren't worth advertising to.
But you ARE right about one thing: Nielson ratings are worthless and arcane. If ANYONE is still making advertising decisions based on Nielson ratings, they'll be going the way of the dinosaur.
