How? He could of still liked her, and they were friends on facebook. There is the possibility that he just saw it on his home page that I think you're ignoring.
It doesn't matter about the other person's feelings, once you break up with someone and you don't want to see them, it's up to you, and in this case, the guy seemed like a stalker.
