They didn’t want her to pick more Democrat judges that impeded their ability to put more Republican judges up to overturn the rulings that are honestly the platform of the party.
The whole reason Republicans did not outline anything specific for the 2020 election was due to the fact they had already scored a winning touchdown.
They can no longer say they are for less spending.
They can no longer be pro-life.
They think their base may have caught on that their position on taxes is no longer a driving force because on one hand most of their base are anti-establishment while their tax refunds benefit the very corporate entities they claim they want to protect the people from. I am hoping that may be the case moving forward.
I predict that if not by 2024 Republicans are back to “virtually the same as Democrats” then they will probably return to that mindset by 2028 or 2032. We are starting to see that projection now among the base that so fervently want Trump. Either because they know he is a liberal that will favor their core issues or because they think he will shake up the party into something they perceive as stagnate.
For me, if they ever return to less regulation (they’re not they’re regulating now more than ever in a more socialist direction, America First IS thoroughly a socialist smokescreen to give federal government more control over corporate entities, their discriminatory legislation and policies that are anti-immigrant, anti-lgbtq); If they abandon their poor social regulations, I would vote for them in a heartbeat! Many local republicans are very much like this in most red states. As the Democrat regulations are crushing construction, farming, and factory workers with failing to address their concerns adequately.
I dunno if Hillary would’ve been any better than Trump in terms of policy, they may have been identical. The only upshot is we wouldn’t be where we are today with hastening legislation that was anti-lgbt and pro-lgbt, as well as anti/pro abortion if Hillary had won. But for better or worse, Trump has at least made more Americans give a shit about who is and isn’t in office.
Trump has at least encouraged more people to vote! Unfortunately, the majority see right through his incompetence, divisiveness, and populism as less than ideal than anything he purports to actually be. The downside in turning out politics into a reality show is that it doesn’t actually address the grievance of Trump’s base.
