The picnic is a great way to get to know someone on an open setting. Zoos are good too as a gauge. You can see how they react to animals (don’t trust anyone who doesn’t like animals). If there’s attraction there you can talk about snuggling animals and move in close to your date to see if they take it as a hint and hold or hug you.
