Ych stands for "your character here" It is basically when an artist makes a base and will draw your character into that base.
Many ychs (and commissions in general) run on a slot basis where people will claim a slot to confirm they want one. Often times there's a limited amount of slots. Think of it like reserving seats at a restaurant.
