Read some history books. When Reagan took office, the National Debt was less than $1 trillion. That was the total of all debts piled up in the two hundred plus years of America. His Director of the Office of Management and Budget, John Stockman, said we were "under-leveraged." So, they cut taxes 25% and didn't cut spending. The Reagan years left us almost $3 trillion in debt. That started the Republican Borrow and Spend frenzy that ran up the national debt. I don't care who you believe. If you want to live in a fantasy world, that's OK with me. I prefer reality.

It was all part of the extreme Republican strategy of "Starve the Beast," with its "Borrow and Spend," financing of government services.
