Why people use pen-names

Throughout history people have used pen names such as the three people mentioned in this story Joanne Rowling Steven King and Charlotte Brontë But there's many more people .One reason someone might use a pen name is because they do not want to embarrass their family or themselves.Joanne Rowling (J.K Rowling) used a pen -name because she believed that boys wouldn't want to buy her book because she was a woman. The second time Joanne Rowling (J.K Rowling) used a pen-name is because she wanted to start a new book series and didnt want any pressure from her past book harry potter weighing her down and peoples expectations to be high for the new books. Joanne Rowling (J.K Rowling) used her second pen name because she wanted to start on a clean slate with as stated before "no pressure from her past books". Another famous example of someone using a pen-name is Steven King who is a very popular horror writer. Steven King used a pen name for many reasons, one reason he used a pen-name is because he wanted people at the publishers to believe that he was a different person. One reason he would want to prick the people at the publisher's is he wanted to make more money off his books so he used the pen name "Richard Bachman" and even made up a whole fake story about him so it seemed more believable. Someone found out they were the same person because of how close their writing styles looked and wanted to look into the publishers of Steven Kind and found out they were the same person. Charlotte Brontë used a pen name for a close reason that Joanne Rowling (J.K Rrowling) did, She thought that boys wouldn't want to buy a book made by a woman. In source two ''Introducing Jane Eyre: An Unlikely Victorian Heroine" it states"There were many expectations and limitations placed on Victorian women. Considering Brontë’s position and her desire for literary achievement given that context, we are able to see why she felt compelled to write Jane Eyre and to publish it under a male pen name, Currer Bell.

". So in History people have used pen names but now i don't think they do anymore, people are a little more accepting nowadays and people can use their real name, but even then its not up to me.
