the reason we say we're a "wholesome" community is because a) everything is kinda close-knit here and we help each other with our problems and b) we aren't really allowed to do anything that's not wholesome, so we stick to the wholesome stuff.

Why does your community get so much hate?

About 18% of the furry community has admitted to be openly zoophile (someone who is sexually attracted to animals)
If your “good” part of the community agrees that zoophiles are disgusting, then there’s a good chance there are a few other furries who are zoophiles but do not admit it due to being shamed on by their own fandom
About 4-10% of your community consists of pedophiles (open and hidden)
So at the least, about 20-23% of your fandom consists of things shamed on by the common population.
Another 20% of your community isn’t a zoophile or pedophile but is welcoming/perfectly tolerant of those two.

A huge portion of your community watches yiffs frequently.
Yiff watchers often claim to not be zoophiles yet they enjoy images of animals (anthropomorphic or not) who are being sexually harassed
Inevitably, all furries will at least some point see yiffs due to how often it appears on some places on the internet
Most open zoophiles say they have their zoophilia thoughts due to see yiffs somewhere on the internet

Additionally Any form of pornography often is a problem because
1. Someone has fallen into depression and they use it to give them feelings of short happiness (dopamine) and it’s like a drug. Once it runs out, your depression gets worse and you need more.
2. Someone is already depressed and they seek it for the same reasons as above.

Your fandom consists of huge portions of pornography addicts, whether yiffs, hentai or irl pornography. This is why furries often talk about their depression, anxieties, and why your community is volatile. It also explains the high suicide rates.

anyway first off there would be a considerable overlap between the zoophiles and the pedophiles in the community. They aren't separate. Plus, the pedophilia doesn't really have anything to do with the furry community. It's just an unlucky coincidence, I suppose. No, seriously, try to find a region why so many people in the furry community would be pedophiles. Come back to me when you can. Now the zoophiles there is no excuse for, and those should definitely die. I'm not sure where you're getting these numbers, though, as I would love to know who polled and got 18% zoophiles, as that seems quite unreasonably high considering how condemned it is in the furry community, even if there were 18% of furries that were actually zoophiles.

Also, let me clarify your definition of "yiff". Yiff is porn with anthropomorphic animals in it. There are no f**ked non-anthropomorphic animals in yiff, otherwise it's shunned and (usually) deleted. Yiff is basically just regular porn but with anthropomorphic characters substituted in for the human characters, and therefore there is more "variety" in the content. Oh, and a lot of these yiff "watchers" don't actually "watch" anything. The majority of yiff is seen in drawings and single images because it would take a lot of work to actually make a full length video of yiff, due to anthropomorphic animals not being real. Most yiff, by nature, is meant to be very based off human porn, so zoophiles who got zoophilic thoughts from yiff were either zoophilic from the beginning and just didn't know it OR were looking at specific porn from people who were already zoophiles.

I do agree that most porn is a problem for those reasons. There is nothing I'd like to comment on that.

However, I would like to add that a good part of our anxiety and depression and shit is due to both unfortunate coincidences and the fact that we are kind of hated, as you mentioned in your comment. While anxiety can be gained in that, a lot of anxious people just happen to join the furry community. That's just kind of how things go. And also, again focusing on anxiety here, if someone is in a group that is hated to the point people in the group get death threats, they become anxious that they do only have limited time before someone kills them. Same thing works for depression, through a slightly different path. Overtime, depression builds up and often leads to suicidal thoughts.

If someone is mentally or emotionally unstable due to other things, they will often look for wholesome things to cheer them up. Furries at first glance appear that way, because of “their love for animals” and how much they help each other out
(they only help each other out because No once else will)

These same people are prone to dive deeper into things if they’re easily drifted by emotions. They also can dive deeper into the hated things of your community and possibly run into yiffs to help with their emotional issues. As I said before, that never helps.

More stable minded people that are furries often have self control over avoiding the darker side of things, and will often recognize that it won’t be a lifelong phase. These people are more respected by the larger population but still aren’t fully respected due to still being a fur

Your community by all these statistics and issues… causes the furry fandom to appear to anti furs as a trap of depression, fake realities, and a death trap.

Guess I should have mentioned clearer that this is how anti furs see it, not me. I’d consider myself neutral (I will write essays about anything for anyone if I can… guess I should be a lawyer lol)

I found my Zoophile statistics off of multiple sources from google. The Least I found said 16%, and the most was 20%.
I know there is an overlap. Which is why I gave a percentage frame when I said 20-25% of the fandom consists of hated things. I would have given more than 25% if I was adding up.
The way I explained the yiff was a bit weird the way I explained it, no one could be that insane to watch Nsfw of normal animals.
However, people can link resemblances between yiff and irl animals. When you watch that stuff all the time, it’s gets in your head… AND I MEAN IT (from experience and other people saying stuff)
And to that last statement of yours, I suppose it could be a mix of both… I often don’t take any insults or being bullied for any reason seriously so I may not understand as well.
