I saw this article and investigated this source and the author...

The author of this opinion is Christopher Tremoglie and he's worked for Fox News.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/author/christopher-tremoglie

I saw the political bias site where it determines the bias, this site is Right Wing.

I don’t live in the USA, but opened it. It’s clearly an opinion piece from a Washington paper. I don’t know if the Examiner favours either side, but each side needs to be able to be heard WITHOUT abuse of the other side. If this shows a discussion and the other side is give voice, it’s fine.

That’s fine if they allow a right of reply.

yeah, since I'm pro first amendment, I support freedom of speech and freedom of the press (which is probably what I call a right of reply)

Yes - of course they have the right to publish it, just as much I have the right to publish whatever criticism of it I like. In this case, a simple dismissive laugh suffices

I actually agree with you, but the “simple dismissive laugh” does tend to play into the hands lily deniers and people who Do Their oWn rEaSEarch on social media, conspiracy websites and YouTube.
Unfortunately my country (Australia) is beginning to slide down the rabbit hole of propaganda and misinformation too.

Republicans lit tens of millions of dollars on fire trying to paint Democrats across the board as soft-on-crime.

In some places it actually did work - like in Wisconsin, conspiracy theorist Ron Johnson beat a young Mandela Barnes with some pretty racist attacks trying to link him to black criminals. But, this gambit didn't work in PA.

Crime is, of course, a serious issue - which the Republicans address in an unserious fashion by advocating for shoveling heaps of taxpayer money into police departments, no questions asked, while refusing to take some obvious steps that would actually protect people, like gun control.

From an outsider’s perspective, gun freedoms seems to be driven by racial fears. Pro gun lobby does seem to be about “protecting property” (the unspoken conclusion of the phrasing is “from blacks”). Kurt Vonnegut was using this in the 60s and 70s in his novels. Here the gun lobby is nowhere near as powerful but is rural based, not suburban. I actually want them to win more seats from the National Party, which is our rural based party but doesn’t seem to be able to get good services in rural areas any more. Their coalition partners might change if the Fishers etc win lower house seats, because they cannot win a state or Federal election If the Nationals lose seats.
We have a “Farmers, Fishers and Shooters Party) that wins seats in our state but I think doesn’t have any traction in suburbs.

Right. As much as Republicans here in the states love to deflect and talk about “knife crime” in other countries, it’s just not on the same level as gun crime here. Knives can kill people too, yes. (Even bare hands and feet can kill people.) But you can’t have drive-by knifings, and it’s a lot more challenging to murder dozens at once in a “mass knifing incident.” It takes a lot more intentionality and skill to kill with a knife, or another weapon like a hammer. Guns lower the barrier to killing by making it all too easy, Hence, whenever guns are involved, you’ll get more more death than in any equivalent situation involving knives or bare hands.

This is all painfully common-sense to most citizens of the first-world, but pro-gun propaganda is a powerful thing in this country (thanks, “Second Amendment”) and breaking the spell of this death cult is work that will take decades, at least, and perhaps it will curse us forever.

The way to make crime less deadly is to take guns away from criminals, period.
