it's Elon that's infringing on free speech

a bunch of people got verified accounts, made them have Elon Musk's display name and profile picture, and did a few jokes. Elon cracked down on it.

Now that's indeed questionable. Banning people because they're using his name, pfp, and making jokes is Elon's decision to make, but it's still a pretty stupid move.

The media is blowing it wildly out of proportion though like this article.

From what I'm seeing it's only parody accounts that he's banning, and not just people that make fun of him.

However, seeing as parody is indeed a form of comedy, he doesn't seem to be standing by his promise too much.

Also, the media is very much built around exaggerating things to heights magnitudes above whatever actually happens, and has been since the 1920's, so I'm not surprised about the headlines.

Paying to have your tweet elevated above the rest is not infringing your free speech.

Alex Jones couldn't pay $8 to get unbanned. There wasn't an option around it, let alone an option as easy as paying a few bucks. Being banned like that was an infringement on his speech. Love him or hate him.
