As far as I know, Opposition Leader doesn't by default mean running for president, just being the leader of the political party, opposed to the incumbent party, so I think he'd be Opposition Leader.
He's probably referencing the British parliamentary system, where the Opposition Leader is the head of the Official Opposition, which is the political party with the second largest number of seats in the House of Commons.
