A peer reviewed study from Syracuse University and Virginia Commonwealth University published in PLOS One concluded that "Changing all policy domains in all states to a fully liberal orientation might have saved 171,030 lives in 2019, while changing them to a fully conservative orientation might have cost 217,635 lives."

Even after controlling for state-specific environmental conditions and demographic characteristics, the authors found that states that invested more in public education and economic security had lower working-age mortality rates than states that gutted workers' rights, environmental regulations, and access to healthcare, including abortion.

Nancy Mace (R-SC), announced action to make the President account for releasing 180-million barrels of oil from America's strategic reserves. Russia and OPEC were driving the cost of oil and overall inflation up, the President eased the burden on the people by releasing the oil. It was in news broadcasts and he newspapers. The oil is there for just this kind of use.

"The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), the world's largest supply of emergency crude oil was established primarily to reduce the impact of disruptions in supplies of petroleum products and to carry out obligations of the United States under the international energy program. The sheer size of the SPR (authorized storage capacity of 714 million barrels) makes it a significant deterrent to oil import cutoffs and a key tool in foreign policy.

SPR oil is sold competitively when the President finds, pursuant to the conditions set forth in the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), that a sale is required."

It seems to me that the President's actions fit these criteria to a T.

The law calls for the oil to be sold to the highest bidder. That is consistent with the way oil is traded and prices are set. You are free to object to the law as it exists and advocate for it to be changed. The Department of Energy is required to obey the law, in its current iteration. That law does not allow for specific countries to be forbidden by DOE from buying our oil.
