Remember how Republicans used to wax lyrical about the Electoral College? The E.C. handed Republicans Presidential victories in both 2000 and 2016, in spite of losing the popular vote. So of course they loved it. Well, in 2020, the GOP decisively lost both the popular vote *and* the Electoral College. Did they accept the result? Of course not. They just changed their argument. According to them, voting itself couldn't be trusted in 2020. But if the GOP wins the 2022 midterms, as predicted, the Republican meta-argument about respecting election results will surely change again - even as they continue their attacks on voting rights in the run-up to 2024. Bottom-line? No voting procedure is acceptable to Republicans unless Republicans win.
