Seems like you could use some equity yourself. I’m sure you would turn it down if you were offered some equity though. But seriously, it’s all about boot straps and grit right?
I'd be a hypocrite if I said a little more money wouldn't be nice, of course, but I'm able to live contentedly on what I have, and I certainly don't need full equity.

I’ll upvote that sentiment but to me all people being equal is a no-brainer. I do however live in the real world. Maybe we will get there some day.
Equality and equity are two completely different things.
Equality (aka equality of opportunity) is a must, but equity (aka equality of *outcome*) can only ever end badly.
At least until we reach a Star Trek "post scarcity society" type scenario.
