Article 1 - President
Section 6: Recall elections
Recall elections offer an alternative pathway than impeachment for the involuntary early termination of a Presidency. A recall petition may be initiated by any IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS citizen at any point during a President's term, except for the first week and the last week. The recall petition must garner a significant number of signatories by active IMGFLIP_PRESIDENTS users (a quorum) in order to proceed to a vote. The Stream Owner will certify whether a proposed recall petition has met the quorum requirement. Upon the certification of a recall petition, a recall election shall be held no later than seven (7) days after the certification. Voting shall be held open for 48 hours. A citizen is eligible to vote in a recall election if the citizen meets the requirements to vote in a regularly-scheduled election. The recall ballot will propose just one question: "Should [current President] continue in office? Y/N." A President is removed by recall if upon the conclusion of the 48 hour voting period, "Yes" votes outnumber "No" votes by a simple majority. If the President is removed by recall, then the Vice-President assumes the office of President. To prevent abuse of the recall process, only one (1) recall election may be held during a President's term. Failed recall petitions (i.e. those which do not meet the quorum to proceed to a recall vote) do not affect the one-recall-per-term limitation.
