The article doesn't "debunk" Mormonism - lol - in spite of its silly headline. It doesn't do that any more than any religion can be "debunked." Religion simply doesn't travel in the realm of earthly facts. It speaks to spiritual needs, and if you find a religion that satisfies that craving, then little will deter you from that.
That said, every thinking person of faith ought to be equipped with the ability to spot the potential for abuse, even from those they trust the most. It's basic self-defense.
From a modding perspective, in my opinion, an article that frankly discusses instances where bad actors have abused the Mormon faith to perpetuate their own various schemes of abuse isn't remotely comparable to what you linked - lol.
