Well, if the customers who come into the store I work for weren’t such lazy assholes and put what they thought they wanted but changed their mind and put the item back in the aisle it belonged instead where it wasn’t supposed to be, we’d be organized too.

I used to work in a bookstore, and aside from the people who thought CDs went in the Mystery novel section, and the idiot who kept sneaking erotica into the bibles & self help section, it wasn't so bad.

I think everyone should work at least a year in retail. It would give us perspective, and probably make us all better, more considerate people.



My favorite bookstore retail question was: "I'm looking for a book. It's by a really famous author and my cousin liked it. I think it had a picture of a kid on the cover -- or maybe, like, a house? Can you find it for me?"

If it were me in this situation, I probably would respond with something like “Look! I’m going to need more to go on before I can help you find what you’re looking for, sir/or ma’am.”

So the stuff the customers reshelve can go bad. Ugh. I've worked in clothing and books, and fortunately those things don't spoil if customers get all whimsical about where they put them.

Yeah, they reshelve refrigerated or frozen food items in areas that aren’t for keeping food cool or frozen.

and as a side note, last time I worked retail I was paid 3.50c an hour and 1.5% of store profits... not sales... profits... so usually that was nadda, zilch, zero, zed, or darn close

On the bright side, the folks you are working for had a banner year. Joe proposes a windfall earnings tax, and I dont see any issue with that.

sorry did not mean for it to sound like that, its a messed up industry for workers. very hard to do. I lasted a year and left a management job at Radio Shack to do undercover security in a mall it was so bad. looking back it was also a mistake. but I digress. nothing wrong with working any legit job... but if I may suggest you use the fact you have a job to help get a better one while the economy is still hanging in there. looking like it could be a rough start to next year on the employment front. sorry again and it was meant towards the industry not you.

Nvm, just solved my own issues that I have with my job. I don’t think I’ll have to quit either to be honest.
