I'm sure he has to know the difference between FLDS and LDS. We have been trying to distance ourselves from them for over a century. They have no connection with us whatsoever.
However, it is fun to see how awkwardly they dress. My wife and I moved to Utah 12 years ago. I have seen a few FLDS women in Walmart doing their shopping. I feel bad for the women and the young men in that religion but they do dress odd. What bugs me the most is because of their large families and multiple wives they all get on welfare.
Back when my church practiced what we call plural marriage, we never acted like the FLDS. The Church and the 1st wife had to approve of the 2nd wife. The 3rd wive had to be approved by the 1st and 2nd wife and the Church. Only about 10% of the Church practiced it. And I can understand why. If I told my wife I was bringing another wife home she would grab a pair of scissors and turn me into a soprano. She'd go all Lorena Bobbit on me. I'm sure that women in the LDS Church in the late 1800's were no different. This is just my opinion but I think the whole polygamy thing was started for a reason. It was started long before the Saints migrated to Utah, however, I think it was because of that migration. It turned a whole lot of women into widows. Polygamy was, in my opinion, just a way of taking care of those women and their children. Then after they got to Utah and got established it was no longer necessary. Plus the Church wanted Utah to be a state and they knew that would not happen if they still practiced it.
Anyway, I'm just rambling like I do way too much. I'm shutting up now.
